How it's calculated
Your age is the calendar time between your date of birth and the chosen date. The calculator counts the full years first, then the remaining whole months, then the remaining days. Months are counted on the calendar, so a month is never assumed to be 30 days.
The chosen date is today by default, using your device's clock. Pick a past or future date to see your age on that day.
Worked example
Someone born on 15 May 1990 (a Tuesday), on 21 October 2026:
- Age: 36 years, 5 months, 6 days
- In total: 437 months, 1,901 weeks and 1 day, or 13,308 days
- Next birthday: 15 May 2027, a Saturday — in 206 days they turn 37
Frequently asked questions
How is age calculated?
Count the full years from the date of birth to the chosen date, then the remaining whole months, then the remaining days. For example, someone born on 15 May 1990 is 36 years, 5 months, 6 days old on 21 October 2026.
Does the day I was born count?
The day you were born is day zero. You turn one on the same date the following year. The total number of days is counted the same way: from your birthday up to, but not including, the chosen date.
How is age calculated for people born on 29 February?
In years without a 29 February, this calculator treats the birthday as completed on 1 March and shows the next birthday on 1 March. Some organisations use 28 February instead.
How can I find out how many days I have been alive?
Enter your date of birth and the result shows your age in total days, weeks and months. The 29 February days of leap years are included.
Can I calculate my age on a specific date?
Yes. Change the “Age on” date to a past or future day, for example an application deadline or a retirement date, and the result shows your age on that day.
Ages are counted in calendar days using your device's date. Results are for guidance only.
