Frequently asked questions
Which tax year do the calculators use?
Tax year 2026: the IRS rate tables and standard deduction from Revenue Procedure 2025-32, the 2026 Social Security wage base of $184,500.00 and the Department of Labor's state minimum wage table as updated on July 1, 2026. Each page states the date it was last checked.
Why is state income tax not included?
Forty-one states and DC tax wages, each with its own brackets, deductions and credits. A single page that quietly applied the wrong state would mislead more than it helps, so the federal calculators say clearly that state and local taxes are extra, and the minimum wage calculator uses the official state table instead.
Are the results the same as my W-2 or paycheck?
The paycheck calculator uses the annual method: the year's federal tax with the standard deduction, divided by your pay periods. Employer withholding follows your W-4 and the IRS withholding tables, and pre-tax benefits such as 401(k) and health premiums reduce taxable wages, so your actual paycheck can differ.
Is Hesapl free? Is anything I type stored?
